Wedding cake trends for 2026
The cake is one of the few things every guest photographs. In 2026 the designs are moving towards natural shapes, muted colours and details that look made by hand. Here is what couples are asking for, and what we are actually building for weddings in and around Bratislava.
1. Semi-naked cakes with fresh fruit
Less fondant, more cream. The semi-naked style leaves the layers of sponge and buttercream visible, finished with seasonal fruit. It suits summer and garden weddings, and it looks like a cake rather than a sculpture.
2. One colour, with texture
Painted patterns are giving way to texture: waves of cream, the mark of a palette knife, matte fondant in a single colour. The shades couples pick are muted: terracotta, sage green, butter.
3. Dried and fresh flowers, used sparingly
Flowers are staying, but there are fewer of them. Instead of a cascade, a few blooms or grasses placed precisely, usually matched to the bride's bouquet. We use edible flowers and florist's flowers, and the florist's ones come off before the cake is cut.
4. A smaller cake plus a dessert table
The main cake is shrinking to one or two tiers, with a candy bar of cupcakes, macarons and small desserts next to it. The cake stays for the cutting and the photographs, and the dessert table feeds everyone else.
When to start
Book the cake 6 to 8 weeks ahead, or 3 to 4 months for a wedding between May and September. We have been baking wedding cakes since 2012 and design every one with the couple, from the first sketch through the tasting to delivery at the venue. The calculator gives you an indicative price in about 30 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should we order a wedding cake?
Six to eight weeks is comfortable. For a wedding between May and September, book 3 to 4 months ahead, because those dates fill up first.
How much does a custom wedding cake cost?
It depends on the number of tiers, the size and how involved the design is. The online calculator gives you an indicative figure, and we confirm the exact price in writing after the consultation.
Can we taste the cake before we order?
Yes, the tasting is part of the consultation. You choose the sponge and cream you actually like before anything is confirmed.
Do you deliver to the venue?
Yes. We deliver across Bratislava and the surrounding region in a refrigerated van and assemble tiered cakes on site. Delivery within Bratislava is €10; outside Bratislava it is €0.40 per kilometre.
