How to choose a cake for a children's birthday party
A children's cake has to please the child and still feed the adults standing behind them. These four decisions cover most of it: how big, what on top, what inside, and who at the table cannot eat what.
1. How many portions you actually need
Children eat smaller slices than adults. For about ten children and a few parents, a 21 cm cake is enough, roughly ten portions, from €73. For a bigger family party, go to 24 or 27 cm, or order two smaller cakes.
2. Pick the theme from what they love this month
The themes that land are the ones from whatever cartoon, game or obsession is current that month. We model figurines by hand from fondant and we print images in edible ink directly onto the cake, so almost anything is possible, from a specific animal to a specific character.
3. A flavour children will actually eat
The reliable ones are mild and not too sweet: vanilla sponge with mascarpone, chocolate sponge with a light cream, or a fruit version with fresh berries. No artificial colours or flavourings go into any of them.
4. Allergies and dietary needs
If one of the children has an allergy, we bake the cake in a gluten-free or lactose-free version. Tell us when you order so we can prepare it separately.
When to order
Order a children's cake at least 48 hours ahead. For a more involved design with modelled figures, give us two weeks. The calculator prices your chosen size and theme, and we either deliver anywhere in Bratislava for €10 or hand the cake over at the studio in Petržalka for free.
